In June of this year, a whistleblower alerted TCS's CEO and COO about an alleged "bribes-for-jobs" scheme within the company. The unidentified informant claimed that senior executives were accepting bribes from staffing firms in exchange for facilitating job placements for their candidates. Following these accusations, TCS initiated an internal investigation, which has recently concluded. Subsequently, the company terminated 16 employees implicated in the scam and removed three individuals from the resource management function.
In an official exchange filing, TCS disclosed that its investigation identified 19 employees involved in the misconduct. The company took decisive action, separating 16 employees for violations of the code of conduct and reassigning three from the resource management function. Additionally, TCS imposed a ban on six vendors, including their owners and affiliates, prohibiting them from conducting any future business with the company.
To reinforce governance measures, TCS outlined several initiatives, including regular rotation of personnel in key roles within the resource management function, enhanced analytics on supplier management, periodic declarations by vendors regarding compliance with the Tata Code of Conduct and the "know your supplier" process, and audits of the vendor management process. The company remains committed to strengthening its internal controls and ensuring ethical business practices.
